Your Laser Face Lift Procedure in Upper East Side
The laser facelift is an extremely popular and effective option amongst our patients. Depending on your cosmetic desires, a laser facelift can include skin resurfacing, skin tightening or a combination of both. If you desire a fast, noninvasive and effective treatment for having younger-looking, clearer and tighter skin,
What is a Laser Facelift?
A laser facelift is a very effective and desirable substitute option to the traditional surgical facelift. While the surgical facelift produces more dramatic effects, the healing time is much longer and the aftercare is much more involved. Unlike a surgical facelift, the laser facelift does not require anesthesia and does not include making incisions into your face. The laser facelift uses Laser resurfacing technology and Laser skin tightening technology to reduce age spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation and Broken capillaries and simultaneously makes your skin tighter and healthier-looking. Laser resurfacing involves applying heat and light energy to the epidermis, or outer layer of the skin, causing it to shed and generate healthier skin in its place. In essence,
it is a more advanced and effective means of exfoliating the skin. Laser resurfacing treatments target pigmented lesions, such as age spots, sun spots, hyperpigmentation, as well as fine lines and shallow wrinkles. Laser skin tightening therapy delivers heat and light to the dermis, or inner layer of the skin, triggering the body’s natural healing response and thereby increasing the production of collagen. Collagen is a key protein in the skin responsible for both tissue repair and giving skin its structure. Unfortunately, collagen production decreases as we age. The laser-induced increased production of collagen will make your skin look tighter, more toned, younger and healthier. By itself, laser skin tightening therapy does not destroy the outer layer of skin.
When you come to Rejuve Clinic for your consultation, your designated skincare expert will help you determine which laser option, or combination of options, is right for your skin.
What to Expect:
At the beginning of your appointment, your designated skincare specialist will have a discussion with you about your skin, cosmetic desires and expectations. We will also ask you about your medical history, medications you are taking and any allergies you may have. It is important to answer all questions honestly, as some conditions may be contraindicated with laser treatments. During this time, we ask that you ask any questions you may have and state your concerns. We want to make sure you are completely informed and very comfortable with your treatment choice.
The length of recovery time and maintenance care after your procedure will depend on the type of laser used during your procedure. Some lasers are more powerful than others. Some laser treatments will allow you to immediately return to work or another social obligation, while other lasers will require that you rest at home for a few days to a week as your skin peels and heals. If you require little to no downtime, be sure to make this expectation clear to your assigned medical technician.
At the start of your laser facelift, your designated medical expert may apply a topical analgesic to your skin, even though this procedure is not typically painful. You will be given protective eyeglasses to wear, and it is pertinent that you keep these on for the duration of the procedure. Next, a compact laser device will be held next to your skin and fire pulses of heat and light that target specific skin conditions. These pulses feel like a rubber band snapping against your skin or splatters of grease hitting you.
The duration of the laser facelift can take anywhere from 20 to 90 minutes and really depends on the nature and condition of your skin. At the end of your treatment, you will be given instructions on how to manage your skin. Aftercare and length of downtime will depend on the laser(s) used during the procedure. While laser skin tightening generally requires little to no downtime, laser resurfacing may take longer, especially if powerful lasers, such as the Fractional C02, are used. No matter the lasers utilized during your treatment, it is always advised that you wear sunscreen and avoid sun exposure.
