Rejuvenate Your Appearance with Restylane Injections in New York
What is Restylane
Restylane, Restylane-L®, Restylane® Silk, Perlane®, and Perlane-L® are members of the Restylane family of products. Restylane is a clear gel formulation of hyaluronic acid that acts as the body’s own naturally produced hyaluronic acid. It is effective for the reduction of moderate to severe facial wrinkles and folds as well as to restore fullness to the lips.
Restylane, Restylane-L, and Restylane Silk are the only treatments approved by the FDA for lip enhancement. Patients need to be over 21 years of age to receive Restylane treatment.
The formulation has been used in over 15 million treatments in over 65 countries of the world. The treatment is considered to be safe and effective.

How Does Restylane Work: Your Experience During and After Visit to Rejuve NYC
Restylane adds volume to smooth away wrinkles. Restylane treatment is limited to 6.0mL in wrinkles and folds and 1.5 mL per lip. In cases of lip treatment where more is required, treatment is generally completed in a follow-up session. Restylane-L is combined with lidocaine and is effective in reducing discomfort for patients both during and after treatment.
After treatment, patients may experience swelling, redness, pain, bruising or tenderness but the symptoms are mild and usually last for less than a week in case of nasolabial fluids and for two weeks in case of lip treatment. Patients under the age of 36 are more likely to experience swelling while patients over 35 years of age may experience bruising. Restylane Silk has been approved in the U.S. and is the first and only FDA-approved product for lip enhancement and smoothing of lines and wrinkles around the mouth. The treatment is only recommended for patients over 21 years.

The Restylane Silk formulation has smaller, smoother particles as compared to other that offers greater accuracy and gives patients more precise results.Restylane Silk is also fast-acting, and its results are long-lasting. Patients can usually see improvement in lip fullness within two weeks of treatment and usually continue to have lip improvement six months after the injection. The most common side effect associated with Restylane Silk is swelling which is only temporary.
Safety and Precautions
Restylane is not recommended in women who are pregnant, breastfeeding or under 18 years of age for nasolabial folds and under 22 years for lips. In addition, people with allergies to gram-positive bacterial, or with allergies to drugs that have required in-hospital treatment should not receive Restylane treatment. Restylane is also not recommended in patients with bleeding disorders, those that have recently used blood-thinning agents, or those allergic to lidocaine.
Restylane in Clinical Trials
Half a dozen clinical trials in the U.S. were done in support of the Restylane indications. Of the half a dozen clinical trials, four of them – involving 500+ patients – looked at the safety and effectiveness in dermal implantation of the mid-to-deep variety for fixing moderate to substantial folds and wrinkles in the facial region. The remaining two clinical trials, involving approximately 200 patients, were done in support of the submucosal implantation indication for lip amplification.
Restylane, compared to various cross-linked collagen and cross-linked hyaluronic acid dermal fillers, was deemed to perform its intended function in fixing moderate to serious facial wrinkles and folds.
Patients who get the Restylane procedure only require a few injections, and there is no need for taking out tissue or making incisions of any kind, which means there is minimal risk for any complications. What this means is that the procedure is suitable for most people who wants to lessen the intensity of wrinkles and facial lines. In fact, people who are allergic to avian-based hyaluronic acid treatments are able to get the Restylane injection procedure due to the fact that the treatment comes from bacterial origins.
Is Allergy Testing Necessary?
There is no need for allergy testing prior to getting Restylane injection treatments. The reason for this is that Restylane is not composed of animal sources, so there is no need for allergy testing as is required for other types of hyaluronic acid dermal fillers.
As a result of the non-invasive nature of the procedure, people who undergo Restylane injections are usually able to carry on with regular daily activities. However, patients should steer away from over exposure to either sunlight or heat since failing to do so could lead to more bruising and puffiness at the place of the injection. Patients should also avoid chemical peels, laser skin tightening and laser skin resurfacing in order to prevent inflammation. New York cosmetic surgeons will also advise patients to avoid, for the first day after the procedure, flexing facial muscles. So, for instance, people who get Restylane in their lips should avoid excessive laughter since failing to adhere to this recommendation could reduce the effectiveness of the procedure.
Options For Patients Unhappy With Results?
While Restylane injections usually lead to results that are well received by patients, sometimes patients can be left feeling less than satisfied. If the wrinkles that they wanted to see corrected are not corrected enough, the solution may involve further injections. However, in the event that the problem stems from more injections than were necessary, the best course of action is to wait it out since the body ultimate absorbs Restylane.
