Juvederm XC Voluma
Juvederm Voluma and Ultra XC Injections in New York, NY
What is Juvederm Ultra XC?
One of the newest dermal fillers to gain approval for use in NYC (and the entire USA) is Juvéderm Voluma. This particular dermal filler has been used in Europe for at least a decade and is used by plastic surgeons in many countries.
Juvéderm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid dermal filler that is formulated with the local anesthetic lidocaine so that there is no discomfort during the injections. The filler has a thick texture and unique tissue expanding properties, which makes it ideal for use on the face. Unlike other derma fillers, Voluma is not used for augmentation of the lips or erasing wrinkles.
What is so special about Juvéderm Voluma?
As we age, there is a natural loss of volume in the midface and cheeks area. While some individuals experience mild changes, others can have significant changes that significantly affect their look and appearance. Loss of facial volume can end up making people look ill, tired and older than their actual age. Juvéderm Voluma was developed as an alternative to surgery to “lift” the cheeks and produce a natural, smoother and younger looking face.
How does Juvéderm Voluma work?
Juvéderm Voluma is a hyaluronic acid derivative, but unlike other hyaluronic acid fillers, Ultra XC consists of long chains of naturally occurring sugars found in the skin. It has many cross-linkages between the molecules that help give it an excellent “lifting” capacity. This special cross-linking also helps prevent breakdown of the molecules and by binding to water can expand. Hence, Voluma lasts twice as long as most other dermal fillers. The other advantage of the cross-linking in Voluma is that once injected, the filler can be molded into the desired shape or contour to maximize the cosmetic benefits.
Who can undergo Juvéderm Voluma injections in NYC?
Virtually any individual with loss of mid face volume can be injected with Voluma. Patientswho are too young or too old who may not be candidates for surgery can be treated with Voluma. The injections are performed in a clinic, such as Rejuve NYC, and rarely take more than 30 minutes. Unlike surgery, one avoids complications of general anesthesia and long recovery times.
How are Juvéderm Voluma injections done?
Once you arrive at our Manhattan office, the face is washed and padded dry. A topical numbing medication is applied to the face for 30 minutes prior to the injections. The injections sites are marked and are performed with a very fine needle. The procedure is virtually painless. Once the Voluma is injected, the area is then gently massaged to distribute it evenly. The majority of people going through the procedure can resume their daily living activities the same day.
Who does Juvéderm Voluma injections?
Many New York healthcare providers routinely do dermal injections, but Voluma injections are generally done by a select few healthcare professionals who have received additional training with this particular dermal filler. Dr. Marina Gafanovich is routinely doing Juvederm Voluma treatments in Upper East Side.
What are some of the side effects of Juvéderm Voluma?
Some people may develop minor bruising and redness over the first few days, but this improves within a week. There is no downtime after the injections and the side effects can be covered with makeup.
How long does Juvéderm Voluma last?
You will see the cosmetic benefits immediately after the injections and they usually last for up to 24 months.
Can Juvéderm Voluma be combined with other fillers?
