Aloe Vera and Green Tea Skin Lotion

Green tea

Homemade skin lotion can work just as well as the store-bought products, and these homemade lotions tend to be far more affordable. Cutting down on the use of preservatives and other potentially harmful ingredients is fast becoming a priority for many of us, and making our own creams and lotions at home gives us the opportunity to use natural ingredients.

Aloe Vera and Green Tea Lotion

You Will Need:

  • 1/4 cup of green tea
  • 1/4 cup of aloe vera gel
  • 1/2 cup of base oil
  • 2 tablespoons of refined beeswax
  • 1 vitamin E capsule

How to Make the Lotion

Start by heating the base oil. You could use olive oil, avocado oil, jojoba oil, or even sunflower oil, and then add the beeswax. Stir the mixture while heating it over a low heat until the wax has dissolved. Heat the green tea for 30 seconds in the microwave and stir in the aloe vera gel. Slowly drizzle the warm tea and aloe vera mixture into the oil mixture while blending with a hand blender. You could also use an electrical whisk to combine the ingredients. Last, puncture the vitamin E capsule and squeeze out the contents to extract the oil. Pour this into your lotion and stir thoroughly to incorporate it.

This skin lotion can be made thicker or thinner by adding more beeswax or more tea. Beeswax thickens the lotion, while adding more tea or water will thin it down. It’s best to keep an eye on the consistency of the cream while you’re mixing it. If you’re happy with the consistency, you could stop adding more tea. Keep in mind that the lotion will thicken slightly as it cools.

This lotion may be a good option for dry, problem skin. Aloe vera helps to soothe, heal, and reduce discomfort or skin irritation. It also moisturizes dry skin. Green tea contains polyphenols, which may have anti-aging benefits. Green tea also has antihistamine-like effects and may also help with skin conditions because of its anti-bacterial properties.
